Adam's Peak is a mountain in the Sri Lankan hill country in the southwest of the island nation of Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
It is 7,360 feet (2,243 m) high, eleven miles (18 km) northeast of Rathnapura. Its conical summit finishes in an oblong platform measuring 72 by 24 feet (22 by 7 meters), on which there is a sizable hollow that is five feet four inches by two feet six inches in size and resembles the imprint of a human foot.

Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus all revere the depression, believing it to be the footprint of the Buddha, Adam, or Isis, respectively. Every year, numerous pilgrims of all faiths travel to the peak. The path to the summit is marked by large chains that are believed to have been placed there by Alexander the Great on the mountain's southwest face.
