The Turtle Care Centre, situated on Kosgoda beach, is among the eighteen hatcheries on the southern coast of Sri Lanka
This center, established in 1981, is located in the Southwestern coastal village of Kosgoda and is very popular as all five species of turtles that visit Sri Lanka come to nest in Kosgoda. Unlike other incubators around the island, whose beaches host only some species, the Turtle Care Centre is visited by all five species of turtles that come to Sri Lanka to lay eggs.

The center's primary objective is to enhance baby turtles' hatching and survival rates in their early stages. Although the center is mainly an incubator, it also cares for sick or injured adult turtles. The staff works hard to treat and rehabilitate the injured turtles before releasing them back into the ocean.
